Windows 11 Issue with Copilot and Desktop icons might move unexpectedly between monitors

Let’s Windows 11 Issue with Copilot and Desktop icons might move unexpectedly between monitors. This desktop icon issue is only observed if you use multiple monitors when attempting to use Copilot in Windows.

This issue mainly happens after the enablement of Copilot on Windows 11 and Windows 10 devices. Microsoft also enabled Copilot for eligible Windows 10 devices. Copilot in Windows 10 is currently available in preview in select global markets.

Windows 10 Devices require more than 4GB RAM and a Display adapter that supports +720p resolution to enable the copilot feature. Microsoft can detect any application incompatibility, there would be a safeguard hold in place and not offer Copilot in Windows until that issue is resolved.

Microsoft is working to fix the issue – Desktop icons might move unexpectedly between monitors. But they have already put some compatibility hold safeguard ID is 47615939 for the devices that could get impacted.

Issue with Copilot and Desktop icons might move unexpectedly between monitors

The issue happens when devices are enabled with Copilot for Windows and multiple monitor setups. Windows 11 and Windows 10 devices using more than one (1) monitor might experience issues with desktop icons moving unexpectedly.

FIX or Prevent Windows 11 Issue with Copilot

To prevent the issue with Windows 11 or 10 copilot, make the Copilot for Windows unavailable for these types of devices until the issue is resolved.

This will prevent users from encountering this issue; Copilot in Windows might not be available on devices that have been used or are currently being used in a multi-monitor configuration. You might also be unable to update to Windows 11, version 23H2, as Microsoft has applied a compatibility hold on devices encountering this issue.

Microsoft recommends that you do not attempt to manually update to Windows 11, version 23H2, using the Update Now button or the Media Creation Tool until this issue has been resolved and the safeguard removed.
