Let’s check on Email Alert Delay from the Microsoft Admin Center Issue. MS releases an advisory on this email delivery delay incident. This is related to email alert delay for Microsoft 365 admins. Delay in reports also is an issue reported by Microsoft.

Are you experiencing an email alert delivery delay? Well, you are not alone. Microsoft raised an advisory to inform us about the delay in the email alert delivery issue. You can check more details from MO422250.

This issue is impacting all the services under Microsoft 365 suite. There is no impact to end users with the delay in delivering alerts. The issue only affects admins if the email alerts are being used as part of automation tasks etc.

Update: 12 AM UTC 28th Sept 2022 – MO439682 – Admins may encounter delays for multiple reports within Microsoft 365 services. Microsoft identified an unexpected issue within their internal infrastructure that is responsible for data processing and preparing user data, which is resulting in delayed reports.

The title of the advisory is Email activity reports from the admin center may be delayed for admins. Microsoft also delays search results with another advisory, MO420476 “Some users may see errors and long wait times when searching through SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.”

Updated at 6:34 PM UTC 1st September (Advisory #MO423553): Microsoft fixed the upstream data source pipeline and monitored the report data in Microsoft’s telemetry to confirm that the impact was remediated.

Update – The issue related to Azure AD PIM delay MO420440 is fixed now. There is another issue with admin users: Admins are experiencing delays in having available permissions after activating Azure AD roles. The organization is affected by this MO420440, and all admins eligible for Azure AD Roles may experience delays after activating their roles in Azure AD PIM.

It seems this week is not good for Microsoft 365 admins. There is another incident (MO420440) going on. Admins are experiencing delays in having available permissions after activating Azure AD roles.

The important message with both of these admin-related issues is that they are not going to impact end users and the performance of their Microsoft 365 applications. The issues are only limited to Admin Users!

Microsoft released another advisory (MO423553) on the Office Activation report delay. This is similar to the delay in email alerts issue for admins as explained above.

Office Activation reports may be delayed up to two days in the Microsoft 365 admin center. There is no end-user impact with this issue as well.

User Impact: Admins’ Office Activation reports may be delayed up to two days in the Microsoft 365 admin center. This issue may potentially affect any admin attempting to view Office Activation reports in the admin center.

Microsoft is working to identify the issue and fix the Email alert delivery delay from the Microsoft Admin Center Issue. The latest update from Microsoft is that they identified an issue in our telemetry, indicating that report data is delayed for email activity.
