Let’s catch up with what’s going wrong with Microsoft 365 suite service alert (Intune Degraded Performance) as flagged by Microsoft recently. In this post, we will go through what Microsoft has to say about Microsoft 365 Intune Degraded Performance Issue Azure Cosmos DB infrastructure.

Just now i.e. 7th of September Microsoft issued an advisory MO427469 related to the performance of multiple Microsoft 365 services and features that may be degraded for some users. One can experience problems in using any services of the Microsoft 365 suite.

As per Microsoft, there is a possibility that users will experience degraded performance with multiple features and services of Microsoft 365. Microsoft assigned this incident under Service Degradation status.

Microsoft stated that a section of Azure Cosmos DB infrastructure within Europe is not performing as expected. They are taking steps to reroute connections to alternate components so that the impact can be minimized. And services can be restored to normal.

This issue MO427469 is fixed – End Time: Wednesday, September 7, 2022, 5:21 PM UTC. Preliminary Root Cause – The confluence of multiple internal service operations caused an unexpected increase in traffic load for the affected Azure Cosmos DB. This pushed the cluster above the designed threshold, causing service issues for Microsoft 365 services hosted on the infrastructure.

Intune Impact IT427439

Today Microsoft also reported an issue where some users may experience issues in check-in Microsoft Intune devices. Microsoft registered it under IT427439. Other scenarios that may be impacted include, but are not limited to:

• Adding policies or installing applications to devices.
• The process of updating a device’s policy or configuration.

Also, Microsoft stated that the impact is specific to some users served by the affected infrastructure in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Microsoft confirms that to determine our next troubleshooting steps, we are reviewing service monitoring telemetry. Also, Microsoft provide the next update by Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 2:00 PM UTC.

Microsoft 365 Intune Degraded Performance Issue

Today, Microsoft flagged an incident related to Microsoft 365 Intune Degraded Performance Issue for the Europe region. Also, Microsoft categorizes this Issue Type as an Incident type. Also, this is limited to the Europe region.

As of now, there is an impact only on requests routing through impacted components in Europe. Users in Europe are facing issues in using some of Microsoft 365 services.

Affected Services

Also, Microsoft stated that these are not limited to these only. Its impact may increase in the Europe region. The list of affected services as per reported by Microsoft is as follows:

• Microsoft 365 Defender
• Microsoft 365 Suite
• Microsoft Intune
• Microsoft Teams
• Yammers Enterprises

As per Microsoft the list of services impacted because of this incident are as follows:

• Microsoft Teams notification delays for calls and messages.
• Feeds from Yammer are not loading.
• Inability to access the Microsoft Defender for Identity Portal (MDI) or load MDI pages within the Security and Compliance Center (SCC). There may also be a delay in delivering some MDI-related alerts.
• Microsoft Intune is unable to check in devices.

As of now the first course of action by Microsoft to address this situation is by rerouting connections to
alternate components to remediate the impact. Soon there will be an update regarding this from Microsoft.
