Let’s discuss Control Multiple Automatic Downloads for Trusted Sites using Intune Policy. The Setting Catalog is a feature that can be used to deploy Microsoft Edge policies. In this case, we are talking about one specific policy in Microsoft Edge called Add these sites to the list of sites that are allowed to perform multiple automatic downloads.

In this policy aim that s admins choose which websites can download many files in a row without asking the user each time. If a site is on this list, it can do these downloads automatically. By setting this list, only trusted websites can do it, which keeps things safe while making work easier for approved sites.

If this policy is not enabled, the browser will follow the Default Automatic Downloads Setting for websites. This setting applies to all sites unless you make a special rule here. If the default setting is turned on or off, that will control the downloads.

If it’s not set at all, then each user’s browser setting will be used. This policy helps organizations by saving time and improving workflows. Employees can download multiple files automatically from trusted websites without repeated prompts.

So, Lets look how this policy to be deployed through MS Intune. First, sign in to the Microsoft Intune admin center. Next, navigate to Devices > configurations, and you will get a +create option on the right side, where you have to select New policy in the new policy. You have to select the platform as Windows 10 and later. Add the profile type as Setting catalog.

Know the Basic Details

After that, you can name the policy to identify its purpose of the policy later. The Name is mandatory and if you like to add description, you can add. The Name and Description can be added according to the Preferences. Click on the Next button.

Configuration Settings

Configuring this setting is an important step. To set up this policy, start by clicking on the Add Setting option. This will open the settings window, where you will see different categories. From the categories, focus on Microsoft Edge. Under Microsoft Edge, find and click on Content Settings. Here, you will see various policy options related to content control. We have already discussed some of these in our previous posts.

• In this list, look for the option “Allow multiple automatic downloads in quick succession on specific sites for a user”. Select this option.
• Once you have selected close the settings picker to complete this part of the configuration.

Disable Multiple Automatic Downloads for Trusted Sites Policy

By default, this policy is set to Disabled. If you want to keep it disabled, simply click Next to proceed without making changes. In this state, the browser will follow the default automatic download rules.

Enable Multiple Automatic Downloads for Trusted Sites Policy

If you want to enable the policy, move the toggle bar from left to right. Once enabled, the switch will turn blue, indicating the policy is active. When enabled, a text field will appear above the policy. Here, you must enter the URLs of the specific sites you want to allow. You can enter one or multiple URLs.

• After adding the URLs, click Next to continue.

Know the Scope Tags

The purpose of scope tags is to categorise and associate your policy with a specific scope, making it easier to manage assignments for particular environments. Here, you can add a scope tag for the policy, although it is not mandatory.

• I will skip this section and click Next.

What is the Purpose of Assign a Group

The assignment tab helps you to assign the policy to specific Entra Groups. Here I click, +Add groups option under Included groups. I choose a group from the list of groups and click on the Select button. Again, I click on the Select button to continue.

Final Process – Review + Create

To complete the policy creation you can review all the policy details on the Review + create tab. It helps to avoid mistakes and successfully configure the policy. After verifying all the details, click on the Create Button. After creating the policy you will get success message will appear.

Monitoring Status for the Policy

To quickly configure the policy and take advantage of the policy sync the assigned device on Company Portal. Open the Intune Portal. Go to Devices > Configuration > Search for the Policy. Here, the policy shows as succeeded 1 you can check below screenshot.

Client Side Verification Result

You can verify the confirmation in the Event Viewer by looking for Event ID 813 or 814. To access this, open Event Viewer and navigate to Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows >Device Management Enterprise Diagnostic Provider > Admin.

• You can see a list of policy-related events now.
• I found the policy details in the Event ID 814.

Delete the Policy

You can easily delete the Policy from Intune Portal from the Configuration section you can delete the policy. It will completely remove from the client devices. To do that, navigate to Devices and then select Configuration. Locate and select the specific policy you want to remove.

• Once you’re on the policy details page, click the 3 -dot menu (⋯) in the top right corner and choose Delete from the available options.

Remove the Assigned Groups

You can Remove the Assigned Groups by Navigating Devices> Configuration> Select the Policy. Then click on it to open its monitoring details. Scroll down to the Assignments section and click Edit. This will take you back to the policy’s assignment settings. From here, you can remove the group you no longer want the policy to apply to.
