Today, I will explore Windows 10 21H2 Update from 2004 or Later will be via Enablement Package. The enablement package update experience is similar to the Windows 10 cumulative update experience, so the Windows 10 21H2 update is going to be easy!

You can view the Windows 11 update history and uninstall updates. Let’s check for changes in Windows 11 updates, as the update experience will improve due to core architecture changes.

Microsoft confirmed that the Windows 10 21H2 Update or upgrade would be through the enablement package. On July 15, 2021, Microsoft released a blog post about all the features delivered through 21H2. The 21H2 update is more focused on productivity and security.

This 21H2 update will be the last exciting update for Windows 10. We are all waiting for the Windows 11 production release later this year, which comes with a further update or servicing cascade.

Windows 10 21H2 Update with Enablement Package

The enablement package is helpful for all deployment mechanisms. Microsoft will deliver the Windows 10 21H2 enablement package through WSUS/SCCM and WUfB/Intune. The WSUS/SCCM Product classification for the enablement package update is Upgrades.

The following is the sample screenshot of the enablement package patch. You cannot download the enablement package from the Windows update website. I have more details about the 20H1 enablement package and WUfB deployments in the following post. The easiest option(s) is to upgrade to the latest version of Windows.

The Windows 10 21H2 upgrade process will be similar to the monthly patching process. The post mentioned that Microsoft plans to deliver Windows 10, version 21H2, using servicing technology for the monthly update process. This confirms it will be delivered as an enablement package.

Also, Gabe Frost confirmed on Twitter that the Windows 10 21H2 update will be delivered as an enablement package. He was replying to Johan Arwidmark’s question.
