The Windows 11 2024 Update, version 24H2, was officially released on October 1, 2024. This update includes several performance and security enhancements and new features for users.

It offers personal data encryption, Windows Hello with passkeys, and Windows Studio Effects to protect your identity. Built-in AI features like live captions with real-time translation and upgraded video calls ensure smooth performance.

It features reduced installation and restart times and lower CPU usage for monthly updates. Improvements to feature updates also minimize download sizes for most endpoints by extending conditional downloads to Microsoft Edge.

Windows 11 24H2 Monthly Patching Got Faster Installation and Reboot

Microsoft’s strategy keeps changing for patching scenarios. They announced WUfB and Autopatch integration recently. Since the release of Windows 10, better user experience with Windows Update or monthly patching has been their top priority.

 In the previous blog post, Windows Updates ramblings what is SSU, WUA, UUP, and many more, I shared tips about Service Stack Updates (SSU), Windows Update Clients, and related topics (SSU WUA WaaS UUP) and improvements in patching.

There is a significant update in Windows Client Service Stack for Windows 11 24H2, so Microsoft claims substantial improvement in overall patching scenarios. This helps to get Faster Installation and Reboot timing for Windows 11 24H2.

Monthly Patch Installation Time 43.6–45.5% Faster

According to Microsoft, the test conducted on Windows 11 Build 22621.3155 with the February 2024 security base image shows that it’s 45.6% faster than the previous versions of Windows 11.

With the Windows 11 24H2 upgrade, Windows could reduce CPU usage during the monthly patching cycle. According to the latest Microsoft test, the CPU usage time is reduced by 15.3–25%.
