Two Microsoft offerings, Windows 365 and AVD, are leaders in DaaS market in 2024, according to IDC’s MarketScape for 2024 study. However, as the social media thread shows, only three leaders exist.

Microsoft, Broadcom, and Citrix are the three leading vendors in DaaS (Desktop as a Service). Unfortunately, AWS is listed under the major players category just below the leaders. We have analysed some of these topics in our New Desktop As A Service (DaaS) SWOT Analysis.

According to reports, Microsoft continued to be well-positioned to support DaaS. Microsoft offers a variety of DaaS offerings, such as Windows 365 Cloud PC (a ready-to-use offering) and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).

IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Desktop as a Service 2024 Vendor Assessment document reveals the detailed analysis of this study. Is Broadcom’s Omnissa a surprising name for you as a leader? Omnissa is the former VMware End-User Computing solution!

As per the IDC report, This IDC study explores the evolving landscape of virtual client computing (VCC), focusing on desktop as a service (DaaS) as a critical component within this spectrum. It highlights the role of DaaS in addressing the growing IT talent shortage by offering a highly automated, robust, and user-friendly virtual desktop solution, distinguishing it from traditional cloud VDI.

Getting access to the report free has been challenging until now, but we have seen Microsoft normally share a blog post with a link to a free report. However, you can check the actual ICD report (IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Desktop as a Service 2024 Vendor Assessment) if you want.
