Let’s figure out the issue of being Unable to download multiple files from SharePoint and OneDrive or load Stream videos hosted on SharePoint. This is the issue reported by Microsoft recently – MO429402. There were 3 related incidents associated with the same root cause. More details are below.

The original issue was Some users could not download multiple files from SharePoint and OneDrive or load Stream videos hosted on SharePoint for a specific region (North Europe). There is an unexpected error that happens on the issues of downloading.

As per Microsoft, users may experience degraded performance with multiple features and services of SharePoint and OneDrive. The status of the incident is Service Restored. There were two duplicate incidents (false positive) as well – OD429188 (OneDrive) and SP429173 (Sharepoint).

This error affects some of the services to interact with, such as Microsoft 365 Suite, Microsoft Stream, OneDrive for Business, and Share Point Online. The Estimated start time: September 12, 2022, 7:45 AM UTC for the issues SharePoint MO429402, End Time Tuesday, September 13, 2022, 9:19 PM UTC

Issue: Unable to download multiple files from SharePoint and OneDrive

Let’s check out the issue that the user cannot download multiple files from SharePoint and OneDrive. Microsoft released a notification on SharePoint i.e., MO429402 as a patch update. This issue only affected the Microsoft Stream users located in North Europe.

  • Unable to download multiple files from SharePoint and OneDrive – A new issue affected the North Europe Microsoft Stream users when they downloaded multiple files.

Because of this issue, the user cannot download multiple files simultaneously from SharePoint Online sites and OneDrive for Business. Also unable to Load videos within Microsoft Stream that have been uploaded to SharePoint Online.

You can refer to the following table for more details on this issue that only affects those served through the infrastructure. The impact is specific to some users done through the affected infrastructure.

The impact is affecting specific users who are served through the affected infrastructure. Multiple files can not be downloaded from SharePoint.

Root Cause: Unable to download multiple files from SharePoint and OneDrive

The root cause of the problem is that a portion of Microsoft infrastructure processes the impacted file download, and video playback functions aren’t performing as expected, resulting in impact. The users have faced the following problems:

  • Download multiple files at the same time from SharePoint Online sites and OneDrive for Business
  • Load videos within Microsoft Stream that have been uploaded to SharePoint Online. This affects Microsoft Stream users located in North Europe.

The issue is FIXED now and the final Root cause: A section of infrastructure, that processes the impacted file download and video playback functions, wasn’t performing as expected.
