It is a new series of virtual machines (VMs) powered by Microsoft. These VMs are designed to provide a robust and efficient solution for various cloud-native and scale-out workloads. Do you want to know to know more about Azure Cobalt 100?

This VM is the first in-house-built Armed-based processor designed for general-purpose computing. It represents a significant milestone in Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, offering enhanced performance, power efficiency, and scalability.

As mentioned, Azure Cobalt 100 is the first fully customized arm-based VM. Users can enhance cloud-native applications’ performance, power efficiency, and scalability with this VM. Its optimization and customization across every layer of the infrastructure stack, from silicon to servers to services.

Key Points of Azure Cobalt 100

The Cobalt 100-based VMs consist of our new general-purpose Dpsv6-series and Dplsv6-series and our memory-optimized Epsv6-series VM series. They offer up to 50% better price performance than our previous Arm-based VMs.

Availability

It has been generally available since last month. It is available in almost 14 regions, such as Canada Central, Central US, East US, Germany West Central, Japan East, Mexico Central, North Europe, Southeast Asia, Sweden Central, Switzerland North, UAE North, West Europe, and West US 2, with more regions to be added.
