Microsoft Entra Agent ID is a new way to manage and protect AI agents. It provides every agent with its own identity instead of sharing a user’s account. With this, organizations can easily see which agent is accessing resources, apply security rules, and maintain compliance.

How Entra Agent IDs and UEBA Updates Improve Threat Detection in Microsoft Defender

AI agents help organizations clearly understand what each agent is doing, control what it can access, and protect it from threats. Microsoft Entra Agent ID is part of Microsoft Agent 365 and is available through Microsoft’s Frontier early access program. Microsoft Entra security features now protect agents, including Conditional Access, Identity Protection, Identity Governance, and Network Controls.

Identity Protection for Agents

Microsoft Entra Agent ID helps protect AI agents by identifying unusual or risky behavior early. It detects potential threats based on agent activity, shares risk signals with Microsoft Entra, and works with Conditional Access tolimit or block access when needed.

Entra Agent ID Support in Defender

In Microsoft Defender, Entra Agent ID is used to identify and protect AI agents. When an AI agent is created, it gets a dedicated Entra Agent ID. Microsoft Defender then uses this identity to monitor the agent’s activity. This will improve security. Defender detect unusual activity it limits the access and block it.

Microsoft Defender Extends Identity Security to AI Agents

Microsoft announcement in public preview saying that Microsoft Defender now supports Microsoft Entra Agent ID. This update helps organizations keep their AI agents safe and managed. Microsoft Entra Agent ID gives each agent its own identity, instead of using a user’s account. Because of this, organizations can protect agents using familiar Microsoft Entra security features like Conditional Access, Identity Protection, Identity Governance, and Network Controls.
